Six New Resources for Your 2026 Devotional Reading

There are many excellent resources for you to choose for your devotional reading. For example, here is an article I wrote sharing several resources for use in 2025. I would now like to highlight six new devotional books (published in 2024 and 2025) that you may want to consider for your 2026 devotional reading:

  1. The Sing! Hymnal – Keith Getty and Kristyn Getty

This hymnal was released at the 2025 Sing! Getty Music Worship Conference. The hymnal includes 498 classic and contemporary hymns carefully curated and beautifully presented in a treasured resource you can carry with you through life. There are also 403 liturgical readings, psalms paired with popular hymns, and stories about each hymn. This resource is perfect for church services and group gatherings, as well as private and family worship. My wife Tammy and I have been using the hymnal as a part of our devotional reading, with Tammy often singing the hymn for us!

  1. Things Unseen: One Year of Reflections on the Christian Life – Sinclair Ferguson

This book is based on the popular Things Unseen daily devotional podcast that respected theologian Sinclair Ferguson produced with Ligonier in 2023. The book contains all 260 episodes edited from the spoken to the written form. The book has 52 topics, one for every week of the year, and follows each theme through from Monday to Friday. Each of the short readings can be completed in just a few minutes each weekday. I used this book as a part of my daily devotional readings in 2025.

  1. The Power of the Gospel: A Year in Romans – R.C. Sproul

This devotional book is based on the preaching ministry of R.C. Sproul at Saint Andrews Chapel in Sanford, Florida. Portions of the devotional were previously published under the title Romans: An Expositional Commentary. The book includes readings and an “Application” for Monday through Saturday each week of the year. I used this book as a part of my devotional reading in 2025.

  1. Go Forward in Love: A Year of Daily Readings from Timothy Keller – Timothy Keller

Tim Keller was the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, co-founder of The Gospel Coalition and Redeemer City to City, and the author of twenty-four books. He died at the age of 72 in May 2023 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. This book is comprised of short daily readings from his books. I used it as a part of my devotional reading in 2025.

5.     Everyday Gospel: A Daily Devotional Connecting Scripture to All of Life – Paul Tripp

With Everyday Gospel, Paul Tripp takes us through the entire Bible over 365 days.
Beginning in Genesis, each day has a few chapters assigned to read, and Tripp then writes a devotion to go along with those chapters. I chose to use the free ESV Bible App to listen to these chapters as I did my daily walks of our neighborhood. I found this book to be a valuable resource to assist you as you read through the entire Bible in a year, and highly recommend it to you.

  1. Daily Doctrine: A One-Year Guide to Systematic Theology – Kevin DeYoung

I plan to read this book as a part of my devotional reading in 2026. DeYoung states that the he overarching goal with the book is to understand what the Bible teaches, defend what the Bible teaches, and enjoy the God whom the Bible reveals. He writes that the book can be used in a few different ways: ‘

  • You can read it as a year-long devotional. Each day is around five hundred words. There are five entries for each week.
  • You can use the book as a reference tool.
  • You can read the book straight through as a mini systematic theology. The topics are organized around the traditional systematic categories.

I hope these two articles give you some good options for your devotional reading in 2026.
