12 New and Upcoming Albums You Might Be Interested In

I enjoy music in a variety of genres. Here are 10 new and upcoming albums that you might be interested in.

Transmissions – Amos Lee

On Transmissions, Amos Lee draws inspiration from jazz, folk, pop and soul, and themes that address such serious topics as death, aging, love and finding your place in the world. Lee has said that one theme of the album is trying to lament, celebrate and honor people we’ve lost, but also trying to connect with the presence of the people we have. It’s one of my favorite albums of 2024.

All the Difference – Skye Peterson

Skye Peterson is the daughter of singer/songwriter/author Andrew Peterson. We were introduced to her and her music at the Getty Worship Sing! Conferences. All the Difference is her second full-length album.

Modern Hymns – Shane & Shane and The Worship Initiative

Modern Hymns is a collaborative effort of Shane & Shane and The Worship Initiative along with Bryan Fowler, Getty Music, and Semsen Music. The project contains many hymns from the Getty Music catalog and features production from renowned producer and songwriter Bryan Fowler.

Every Kind of Uh-Oh – Charlie Peacock

Every Kind of Uh-Oh is the latest album from the multi-talented (singer/songwriter, producer, author, podcast host) Charlie Peacock. Peacock has been a long-time favorite of mine, dating back to his late-night shows at the Cornerstone Festival at the Lake County Fairgrounds near Grayslake, Illinois in the 1980’s.

Zoo TV: Live in Dublin 1993 (EP) – U2

This five song EP is from one of the two open-air performances by U2 at the RDS Arena, Dublin in August 1993, hometown stop on the ‘Zooropa’ leg of the ZOO TV Tour.

Rise My Soul (EP) – CityAlight

This is a four-song EP from Australia’s CityAlight, one of my favorite artists. On these songs, CityAlight has partnered with songwriters such as Matt Redman, Sandra McCracken, Matt Boswell and Matt Papa. The EP does not include “His Glory and My Good”, released in May.

When I Think of Christmas – Amy Grant & Vince Gill

This is a new compilation of Christmas songs from Amy Grant’s and Vince Gill’s careers. It includes 5 songs from each of them including the brand-new song- “When I Think of Christmas” that Amy recorded for this album as well as a duet of “Til’ The Season Comes Round Again” that is performed during their Ryman Residency in Nashville each year.

Bob Dylan and The Band: The 1974 Live Recordings

The 1974 Live Recordings, is a massive 27-disc box set that features all professionally recorded shows from Bob Dylan and The Band’s 1974 tour.
The box set offers 417 previously unreleased live tracks – including 133 recordings newly mixed from 16-track tape, and every single surviving soundboard recording.

New Arrangements and Duets – Van Morrison

This album from Van Morrison represents a small percentage of the huge amount of unreleased material that he is hoping to roll out in the near future, rather than letting it gather dust in some archive. This project will be released September 27.

I Love Jesus – Mac Powell

The latest from Mac Powell, former lead singer of Third Day, is I Love Jesus. Two songs have been released thus far, the title song and “Good News”. The album will be released October 25.

Curioso – Wilder Woods

Wilder Woods is Bear Rinehart, lead singer of NEEDTOBREATHE. The first two songs from new studio album are “Devil In My Eyes” and “Hide Anymore”. The album will be released February 7.

Cover Story – Russ Taff

This is the  new release I’m most excited about. I’ve enjoyed Russ’ music since his days with the Imperials. The new album, produced by John Mark Painter with Steve Taylor as executive producer, is a project of cover songs by artists such as U2, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and others. I’ve heard the album and Russ’ voice sounds amazing. The production is excellent. Release date to be determined.

These are 12 new and upcoming albums that I’m excited about, and I hope you are too. What new music are you looking forward to?
