There’s a Rainbow Somewhere: The Songs of Randy Stonehill – Various Artists
****
This album, by some of the best Christian artists from the 1980’s to the present time, is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Contemporary Christian Music pioneer Randy Stonehill’s 1971 debut album Born Twice. Just looking at the names of the artists that contributed to this album brought a smile to my face and many great memories of the music I listened to as a new believer. Tom Gulotta and Ray Ware served as executive producers of the project.
I thoroughly enjoyed this album. Here is the track list, and just a few comments about each song:
Lazarus Heart – Phil Keaggy. The song was produced by Phil Keaggy and Rex Schnelle. Keaggy provides vocals, acoustic and electric guitars.

On Jordan’s Stormy Banks by Keith & Kristyn Getty
This week’s song of the week is “On Jordan’s Stormy Banks” by Keith & Kristyn Getty from their upcoming album Christ Our Hope in Life and Death, to be released in September.
The song was written in 1787 by London pastor Samuel Stennett, who imagines himself in the place of Old Testament Israel, preparing to cross the Jordan River into the land God had promised, while also reminding the Christian of our one true home in heaven. Christopher Miner has written a beautiful new tune for the timeless hymn. His soulful melody features a call-and-response style refrain, allowing congregations and families to point one another to our true home: we are bound for the Promised Land.
Listen to the song here.
On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan’s fair and happy land
Where my possessions lie
All o’er those wide extended plains
Shines one eternal day
There God the Son forever reigns
And scatters night away
CHORUS
I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound for the promised land
I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound for the promised land
No chilling winds nor poisonous breath
Can reach that healthful shore
Sickness, sorrow, pain and death
Are felt and feared no more
CHORUS
When shall I reach that happy place
And be forever blessed?
When shall I see my Father’s face
And in His bosom rest?
CHORUS
