I like music in a variety of genres, and perhaps you do as well. Here are nine new and upcoming releases that you might enjoy.
Still Waters: a LoFi Collection – Chris Tomlin and The LoFi Christian
The Lofi Christian is a music project and collective of producers that creates low-fidelity (lofi) instrumental beats, worship covers, and peaceful soundtracks designed for prayer, Bible study, work, and relaxation. They worked with Chris Tomlin to put together this collection of 15 familiar worship songs into a quieter setting. I’ve enjoyed listening to these songs through headphones while praying on my afternoon walks. The intent is to create an atmosphere of worship wherever you are. The songs are from different points in Tomlin’s catalog, from “How Great Is Our God” to “Holy Forever” and “How Good It Is” and “Doesn’t He (Deserve it All)” from his latest album The King is Still the King. This is a different way to listen to some much-loved Tomlin songs and it works well.
Homecoming (EP) – Sandra McCracken
Homecoming, written with N.T. Wright was conceived over several months in Oxford and recorded in Nashville. The project grew out of a season Sandra spent in Oxford, England, as Artist-in-Residence with the Renaissance Project at Wycliffe Hall. The collaboration brings together an influential hymn writer and one of the world’s foremost New Testament scholars. It reflects Wright’s vision of “God’s homecoming” or the biblical promise that heaven and earth will ultimately be reunited through the renewal of all creation. Rather than imagining heaven as an escape from the world, the songs explore the Christian hope that God’s kingdom is already breaking into ordinary life, inviting us to take part in that renewal.
Conversations with Wright, along with co-writes with Jon Guerra, Luke Laird, David Clifton, and others, became the foundation for this six-song collection.
Songs in the Key of Life: The EP– Stevie Wonder
Stevie Wonder is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his classic Songs in the Key of Life album with an EP of unvaulted tracks from the 90-minute album’s extensive sessions. Chosen by Wonder himself from the outtakes, the four songs—“It’s Easier,” “My Life Story of Love,” “I Can See the Sun in Late December,” and “I’m Into Livin’”, are out now as Songs in the Key of Life: The EP.
The songs were written and produced by Wonder, with mixing handled by the album’s original engineers John Fischbach and Gary O Adante. The release coincides with Wonder’s 50th-anniversary tour performing the landmark double album in its entirety. We enjoyed this concert (playing the album in its entirety), a few years ago in Indianapolis.
The Boys of Dungeon Lane Special Edition – Paul McCartney
The Special Edition of Paul McCartney’s acclaimed album The Boys of Dungeon Lane (my favorite album of 2026), features four additional recordings including a new version of ‘Home To Us’, his duet with Ringo Starr, alongside three brand new songs ‘City Fox’, ‘One Night Stand’ and ‘Chelsea Boots’, offering fans the opportunity to discover more of the music created during the sessions.
Jamie MacDonald Deluxe
Jamie MacDonald’s debut album has been one of my favorites this year. On October 16, a Deluxe edition will be released featuring a few new songs, including “Used to Be”, which is out now, and a few reimagined songs that are especially meaningful to her.
Psalms Vol. 3 – Shane and Shane
Worship duo Shane and Shane have announced that their long-awaited new album Psalms, Vol. 3 will be released October 16. The album features the song “Praise Upon Praise”, which was recently released.
Bob Dylan & The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings
Bob Dylan & The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings will be released on November 6. The 39 CD box set fully captures this tour alongside a stellar company of backing musicians and guest artists, yet another breakthrough in Dylan’s performance career. A 3-LP set of the complete May 16, 1976 Fort Worth show, remixed from the original multi-track tapes, will be released on the same date.
Carnaval De Luz – U2
Carnaval De Luz, which in English means “Carnival of Light”, will be U2’s first full-length studio album in nine years. The album, which will be released November 13, will feature twelve new songs, two of which have been released to date: “Streets of Dreams” and “Silencio”. The album will also feature “Torn”, Dolly Parton’s final recorded performance. The Edge has described the album as
“A messy, provocative, sacred collection of songs”. Bono states that “There will be loud guitars, deep bass, some ecstatic rhythms.”
The Long Surrender and the Fellow Passengers of Pain – NEEDTOBREATHE
The Long Surrender by NEEDTOBREATHE is one of my favorite albums of 2026. They band recently stated “We’re in a time of overflow in the band and there are some new songs that we are really proud of that we wanted to put out during this season of The Long Surrender. “Can’t Apologize” is one of those songs, and we’re really excited to have our friend Jonah Kagen feature on it. It’s just the band in a room playing together, trying to be present and inspired. We hope you take a listen. The Long Surrender and The Fellow Passengers of Pain will be released on November 19.
Which of these new releases are you most looking forward to?
