New and Upcoming Music

I enjoy music in a number of genres. There are several new and upcoming releases that you might be interested in. Here are 8 of them:

Psalm 119 Volume One (EP) – Stillcreek

Stillcreek is a new band comprised of Dave Aubrey, Bryan Fowler and Aaron Williams. I was familiar with Fowler from his work as a member of the Getty Music writing team, and with Shane and Shane and the Worship Initiative.

This five song EP with lyrics based on Psalm 119 is mostly acoustic with synth, keys, light drums and beautiful harmonies. A companion Live Strings Session version is available consisting of beautiful harmonies over strings and piano.

Curioso – Wilder Woods

Curioso is Bear Rinehart’s (singer and songwriter with NEEDTOBREATHE) third solo release as Wilder Woods, and my favorite of the three. The album is fresh and energetic. Each repeated listening brings out new elements of each song. Rinehart’s strong vocals are excellent as usual, and I particularly liked the guitar, drums, and backing vocals on the album. The album features a mix of upbeat, mid-tempo and slower songs, all of them strong.

Hear the Hallelujahs Roar (EP) – CityAlight

Hear the Hallelujahs Roar is a 5 song EP from CityAlight. CityAlight is a ministry of St. Paul’s Castle Hill, part of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. CityAlight will be at the 2025 Sing! Getty Music Worship Conference in Nashville September 1-3.

This album is comprised of music inspired by the new series House of David on Prime Video. Artists on the album include NEEDTOBREATHE, Chris Tomlin, for King & Country, Blessing Offor and more.

Sing! The Songs of the Bible: Live from the Getty Music Worship Conference – Keith & Kristyn Getty and Friends

Each year, Keith & Kristyn Getty release a live album from their annual Sing! Conference. Several songs have already been released from the 2024 conference, such as “Victory In Jesus (Christ Won The Victory)”, “Christus Victor (Amen)”, “How Great is the Greatness of God”, and “Here Is Love Vast As The Ocean (Everlasting Praise)”.

Heaven on My Mind – TobyMac

Heaven on My Mind is TobyMac’s tenth studio album. Five songs were released ahead of the full album release, including “Nothin’ Sweeter”, “God Did It” and “a lil Church”.

Walk This Road – Doobie Brothers

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members the Doobie Brothers new ten song album Walk This Road will feature a reunited lineup of members Patrick Simmons, Tom Johnston, John McFee, and Michael McDonald. The last release of new original material McDonald played on was 1980’s One Step Closer. Three songs have been released to date.

The album will be released June 6.

Remembering Now – Van Morrison

Remembering Now, Van Morrison’s latest studio album will feature 14 original tracks, including “Down To Joy”, which was featured in Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar winning film Belfast, and was my favorite song for 2022. Blending soul, jazz, blues, folk, and country, the album revisits classic Van Morrison themes with fresh, heartfelt compositions.

The album will be released June 13.

These are 8 new and upcoming music releases. Which ones are you most looking forward to?
