Sing! The Great Commission World Tour LIVE Extended Edition
****

A live album has been released from the annual Sing! conference each year since the conferences began in 2017. This is probably my favorite of all of those releases. It is billed as Sing! The Great Commission World Tour Live, as it includes songs from Sing! events in Belfast, Singapore and Sydney, in addition to the Sing! Conference in Nashville. Here is my review of the original edition of the album.

This new “Extended Edition” includes three additional songs:

  • Song of the Week Lyrics ~ Turtle in a Chinese Food Box by Charlie Peacock

You’ve Already Won – This uplifting song was written by Bryan Fowler and Shane Barnard, and performed by Shane and Shane. This was my favorite song of 2023.
Key lyric:
I’m fighting a battle
That you’ve already won
No matter what comes my way
I will overcome
I don’t know what You’re doing
But I know what You’ve done

I’m fighting a battle that
You’ve already won

Jesus Strong and Kind – This song was written by Rich Thompson, Colin Buchanan, Michael Farren, Jonny Robinson, and performed by CityAlight and Colin Buchanon.
Key lyric:
For the Lord is good and faithful
He will keep us day and night
We can always run to Jesus
Jesus, strong and kind

Hold Me Savior – This beautiful new song was written by Bryan Fowler, Sandra McCracken, Skye Peterson, and Ben Shive, and performed by Skye Peterson and Sandra McCracken.
Key lyric:
Hold me Savior
now and ever
Lord let Your goodness
go with me
Guide and keep me
Gently lead me
Your presence with me
is my peace

Turtle in a Chinese Food Box by Charlie Peacock

This week’s song of the week is “Turtle in a Chinese Food Box” by Charlie Peacock. This is the first release from Peacock’s forthcoming album Every Kind of Uh-Oh. The song, about Peacock’s first date with his future wife, was written by Peacock and he co-produced it with his son Sam Ashworth. Here is the music video for the song.

Let’s meet in the park, that’s where we’ll start
I’ll bring you a turtle, baby
In a Chinese food box
We’ll talk for hours, the world will be ours
We’ll have a good time, I’ll make you laugh a lot
There’s no reason to think that anything but true love will bloom
‘Cause we don’t know what we don’t know
The land we’ve been given is dirt made of hurt
Where the seeds of roses and weeds both grow
In the space of an inch, so closely entwined,
These two incongruent live to indwell our minds
Let’s meet in the park, that’s where we’ll start
I’ll bring you a turtle, baby
In a Chinese food box
We’ll talk for hours, the world will be ours
We’ll have a good time, I’ll make you laugh a lot
You know you’re in love when you ride your bike ten miles for a kiss
But you don’t yet know how the wind will blow
The land we’ve been given, is dirt made of hurt
Where the seeds of roses and weeds both grow
In the space of an inch, so closely entwined,
These two incongruent live to indwell our minds
Make us beautiful and unkind
em>Who shall rescue us? Who shall rescue us?
Who shall rescue us? Rescue us, rescue us
Let’s meet in the park, that’s where we’ll start
I’ll bring you a turtle, baby
In a Chinese food box
We’ll talk for hours, the world will be ours
We’ll have a good time, I’ll make you laugh a lot
I like to think that I made you laugh a lot
