Summer may provide you a more relaxed schedule. What goals or plans do you have for the summer? Here are a few suggestions:
- Do an in-depth study of a book (or books) of the Bible, perhaps with a group at church or individually.
- Set exercise goals such as how many miles you will walk or run. A friend is training for the Chicago Marathon. Perhaps you will want to walk a minimum of 10,000 steps a day.
- Listen to podcasts or an audiobook as you walk or run.
- Freshen up your garden. Each year we check to see which plants have made it through the cold winter. That review determines what we need to purchase to fill up the empty spaces in our garden.
- Read a few books. Enjoy sitting outside on your patio or in a park, or take a new book you’ve been looking forward to reading on your summer vacation.
- Make a point to spend time with friends, perhaps over breakfast or lunch.
- Invite a friend to church and then take them to lunch afterwards.
- Write a book. It’s easier to get a book published independently than you might think. Tammy and I have written three books in the past five years. Two of my friends are in the process of writing books at this time.
- Start a blog. Do you have a special talent or area of interest? Why not start a blog and write about it?
- Attend the Getty Worship Music Sing! Conference with the theme of From Generation to Generation, and the launch of the Sing! Hymnal at the beautiful Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville.
- Get a dog. Is there anything better than getting a puppy? Tammy and I have had five wonderful dogs (four Alaskan Malamutes and one Samoyed) since we have been married. Getting a dog in the summer will make housebreaking and training easier than if you get one during cold weather.
- Take casual drives and day trips. We often enjoy driving out to a few lakes we have in the area, and enjoying a meal while we are out.
